WIGZELL EXTENDS OTI SERIES LEAD
After starting out of
position 3 in heat 1 of the OTI second round held
at Renmark last Saturday night, Todd had to do it
the hard way after spinning in front of most of
the field on the first lap. The car was
fortunately unscathed and was able to move up to
4th position from his rear of field restart. A
third place finish in the second heat from a
position 7 start was enough to qualify him for the
6 lap dash out of 5th position. Todd was then able
to set himself up to finish in 3rd position for
the feature. Todd trailed Daniel Obst for most of
the feature but was able to take the lead with a
couple of laps remaining and keep that position to
the chequered flag. The win extended his Series
lead to 22 points with still 5 rounds to compete.
This Friday and Saturday,
Todd will compete the Australian Wingless Sprint
Title at Parramatta Speedway in New South Wales
weather permitting. The forecast isn't looking
great at the moment but we can only hope.

WIGZELL RACING UPDATE
The Boxing Day meeting at
Speedway City where the Wingless were the support
class for World Series Sprintcars saw a different
format for the Wingless class. Instead of racing 2
heats to determine starting positions for the
feature, the drivers were given 2 feature races,
the first being a marble drawn starting position
and the second a reverse draw. The first feature
had Todd starting out of position 7 from where he
was able to work himself into the lead to take the
win at the end of 15 laps. The second feature Todd
started out of position 8 on the grid and was up
to 3rd at the end of the 10 lap feature which had
been shortened due to time constraints. The 1st
and 3rd finishes saw Todd well ahead in the
night's points to take the Universal Metal
Cleaners overall points winner for the night.
Saturday January 7th January
at Speedway City was all set for an exciting night
of racing with two 20 lap feature races on the
program. Unfortunately before any heats were able
to get onto the track, the huge down pour put an
end to any racing that night.
The fortunate thing that
came from that cancellation was that Murray Bridge
which had also been cancelled rescheduled a
meeting for the following day and Wingless Sprints
were able to fill a gap in the schedule. With a
4th and a 1st in his 2 heats, Todd qualified on
pole position for the start of the feature from
where he was able to hold off his rivals to the
chequered flag to take out his 5th feature win of
the season.
Due to being in the wedding
party of a good mate in WA, he will not be
competing at Murray Bridge this coming Saturday.
The SA State Title originally scheduled for 25th
January has now been postponed until 31st March so
the next meeting will now be Round 2 of the OTI
Series at Renmark on 4th February before
travelling to Parramatta for the Australian Title
on 10th & 11th February.

WIGZELL CONQUERS AT MURRAY BRIDGE
The slick track at
Murray Bridge Speedway last night caught out all
of the drivers at some stage during the night. For
Todd, it was in his first heat. After starting out
of position 6 on the grid, he had moved himself
forward a couple of positions before spinning with
one lap to go causing a yellow light stoppage. The
raced was then declared with Todd allocated to
rear of the field for causing the stoppage. The
second heat, Todd had a 3rd position start and he
was able to keep the car heading in the right
direction and went on to take the heat win. Todd
qualified for the feature out of position 4 and
quickly moved himself forward behind pole starter
Andy Thomas who was in lead. He narrowly missed
the Andy Thomas car when it spun in front of him
and then was able to take a very comfortable lead
and win in the 15 lap feature.
The next race
meeting will be at Speedway City on 26th December.

WIGZELL TAKES WIN & TRACK RECORD
Todd had a very
successful night at Whyalla speedway last night.
With a 1st place finish in his first heat and a
2nd in his second heat, he was on the pole
position for the start of the 20 lap feature race
which was the first of the six rounds of this
season's Oval Track Imports Series. Todd led the
field for the entire non stop 20 laps breaking the
track record in the process. This was almost a
perfect start in his endeavour to be the back to
back winner of the series. With another 5 rounds
still to compete, he will be working hard to copy
this form.

DISAPPOINTMENT FOR WIGZELL
The night ended
in disappointment again last Saturday night at
Speedway City. The heat points were very close for
the top 4 cars with Todd starting out of position
four. He moved up quickly into second place hot on
the tail of Bogucki. Unfortunately Todd spun his
car between turns 3 and 4 with only a few laps to
go and had little time to make up the lost
positions. Todd is taking this week off from
racing and will head to Whyalla next Saturday
night for the first round of the Oval Track
Imports Series meeting.

WIGZELL WRONG PLACE WRONG TIME
The luck ran
out for Todd last Saturday night when he was put
out of the first heat after sustaining front end
damage in an incident involving two other cars.
The car was ready to go again for heat 2 with Todd
out of position 7 on the grid. Todd quickly got
the front of the pack and took 1st place at
the drop of the chequered flag. Todd qualified out
of position 6 for the feature but was again put
out of the race after a car spun in front of him
leaving him nowhere to go with several other cars
getting involved in the incident. Fortunately the
damage to the car was minimal and will be ready to
go again next Saturday night for the Speedway City
season opener.

WIGZELL COUNTS DOWN FOR SEASON START
The count down
is now on for the start of the 2011/2012 season.
The first meeting of the season will be on 15th
October at Murray Bridge Speedway with a very busy
month to follow. Wingless Sprints return to Murray
Bridge again the following week and then to
Speedway City the next 2 weeks with the first
round of the Oval Track Imports Series at Whyalla
Speedway the week after.
The SA Title
will be held at Speedway City on Wednesday 25th
January and the Australian Championship at
Parramatta Speedway on 10th & 11th February 2012.
Todd is hoping to get the season off to a good
start and hopes to take last season's consistency
into the new season.
